Our history

It all started in 2001 in a small Brossard (Canada) office. Driven by a desire to be an entrepreneur and the desire to take concrete action in the environment, Dominic Colubriale founded Forest Fibers.

This new business started at a crucial moment: exports to Asia were rapidly growing. Forest Fibers established itself as the first Eastern Canadian company to export recycled waste and paper from Quebec and Ontario, to Asia.

From 20 employees in 2003 to more than 200 today, our company is a major force in the industry and a first-rate employer.

Present in important international markets such as North America, South America and Asia, Forest Fibers, already recognized as a global leader, changes its name for Ricova.

  • September 1st, 2001 : Forest Fibers is born.
  • 2001  – 2003 – Sales reached 10 and 14-million dollars within the first and second years of business, respectively.
  • In September 2003 – Forest Fibers’ logistics subsidiary began operations. Today, this entity is named SEAWEST a division of Ricova.
  • December 2005 – Purchase our first building in December 2005 and move the offices to Saint-Hubert, QC.
  • July 2007 – Purchase of first recycling plant, RCI Canada – Entreprise Écologique.
  • January 2008 – Recycle City USA (RCUSA) plant in New Jersey is opened.
  • January 2009 – Americana Meats begins operations
  • March 2009 – Greenworld recycling is launched.
  • 2009 – Awarded City of Sherbrooke’s public tender and takes over and manages the municipal recycling plant.
  • April 2010 – Purchase of Recyclage de Montreal.
  • July 2011 – Launch of new fine papers division.
  • September 2011 – Awarded the first SAQ public tender.
  • January 2012 – Establish a new joint venture with Provision in the Turks and Caicos.
  • March 2012 – Open a sales office in Barranquilla, Colombia.
  • April 2015 – Purchase of Panama’s first recycling plant, Ecorecicladore, renamed Ricova Panama.
  • May 2015 – Purchase 51% of Kurbirton’s shares to create Ricova Jamaica.
  • August 2015 – Launch Ricova KK in partnership with KK which becomes our first plastic recycling plant.
  • September 2015 – A new era begins as we change our name from Forest Fibers to Ricova.
